Choosing a roofing contractor is a significant decision, and it’s important to understand what makes a company a good fit for your specific needs. Roof-A-Roo presents a compelling case for being a top choice for New York residents, primarily because of their dual focus on technical expertise and a customer-centric approach.
What is worth choosing?
First and foremost, Roof-A-Roo’s extensive list of services means they can handle virtually any roofing issue you might face. From preventative maintenance like gutter cleaning to major structural projects like a full roof replacement, they offer a one-stop-shop solution. This can be a huge advantage for homeowners who prefer to build a long-term relationship with a single, reliable contractor.
A key factor to consider is the reported communication style. As one customer noted, the owner, Michael, is known for being straightforward and honest, avoiding unnecessary "sell pitches." This transparency is invaluable in an industry where costs can quickly escalate. The ability to receive a clear, honest assessment of your roof's condition, with multiple options presented to fit your budget and needs, is a significant benefit. This level of professionalism and empathy, particularly when dealing with stressful situations like storm damage or insurance claims, can provide immense peace of mind.
However, it is also important to consider the full picture. A different customer review highlighted issues with communication, follow-through, and cleanup. This suggests that while a positive experience is possible, it is wise to be proactive and maintain clear communication throughout your project. While a contractor can be highly skilled, the logistical and administrative aspects of a project are equally important for a successful outcome. The contrast in customer experiences underscores the importance of a thorough vetting process and open dialogue from the start.
Ultimately, Roof-A-Roo's strengths appear to lie in their technical knowledge, broad service offerings, and a business philosophy that, at its best, prioritizes customer understanding and a no-nonsense approach. For a New York homeowner dealing with a roofing challenge, these qualities are essential. Their commitment to inclusivity and convenience through online estimates and on-site services also makes them a modern and accessible option in the local market. By weighing these factors, you can determine if Roof-A-Roo is the right partner for your home’s next roofing project.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Bottom line: We wouldn’t hire Roof-a-Roo again. While there have been no leaks since the roof install in May, the process revealed serious issues with communication, quality, and follow-through.We chose them despite the higher quote because their rep, Mike, did a thorough inspection and seemed professional. But things quickly fell apart: we never got a promised siding quote (after following up), we weren’t properly notified before the crew arrived, and we had to supply power ourselves—three times (without notice). When Mike said the project was complete, we came home to find that the gutters, which were part of our contract, weren’t installed. When we asked, we were told the machine was broken—after the fact. Trim under the roof was damaged and left that way (see pictures). Cleanup was poor—my wife picked up 35–40 nails from our yard, a major safety concern with our dog.Despite following up multiple times about the damage, Mike ignored or minimized our concerns. Only when we mentioned writing a review did he offer to fix the trim (but not paint it). Weeks later, we found large splintered wood pieces in our attic and got no reassurance from the company. The roof may look fine, but we don’t trust the workmanship or the company.
August 02 · Alyssa BelcastroIt’s not everyday that you find a contractor who is straight forward and honest. No sell pitches, no extra unnecessary “recommendations” just to add to the bill. When I called Michael from Roof-A-Roo, he not only answered the phone, but he gave as much time as I needed to explain my situation. Tight with money, I mentioned I needed my entire roof to be repaired brand new but I only had a couple of months with my insurance company to send in photos or risk them not renewing my coverage. Michael was not only understanding and compassionate about the situation, but he gave me many options to help me out and told me not worry. He offered to help as well, himself personally. How often does anyone receive help like this? Michael was extremely knowledgeable in every way possible from the insurance companies and roof work, to the materials and even their warranties. I had other companies charge me “extra” for a 50 year warranty on certain roof shingles, until Michael mentioned to me it’s only like $20 to extend the 25 year warranty to 50 year warranty. So I went with Michael due to his vast knowledge and experience, professionalism, and the icing on the cake was having the peace of mind knowing my roof, and the entire situation, was in good hands. He competed the job within the following week of me reaching out to him about it. There were hiccups along the way because my roof had damage, but it was no issue for Michael and his crew at Roof-a-Roo. The entire process was seamless. I feel like nothing even happened which is amazing because that’s the peace of mind I had from working with Roof-a-Roo. I am absolutely going to use Roof-a-Roo for other projects as well. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, recommend Roof-a-Roo to anyone and everyone. Once you use them for a project, you’ll end up deciding to use them again. You’ll be so happy that you’ll want to praise their work and service as well.
April 30 · CommonSenseIsRareMichael came by very soon after I called, and determined which portion of the roof needed replacement. Gave fair price, and was able to quickly schedule the work, knowing we had impending insurance cancelation. His crew did an excellent job, and also thoroughly cleaned up after. All in all a great company to do business with.
August 22 · Ivan KlineSo they have an unusual name: Roofaroo. But that doesn’t mean they can’t do a fantastic job! Michael was very attentive from the very beginning. In fact, he was the one who reached out and sent our church secretary pictures from his drone, showing missing shingles on the church roof. He clearly specified the work he would do and how he would do it, provided a certificate of insurance, and promptly arrived on the dates scheduled. I highly recommend this roofer and he will give you a fair price.
November 20 · Michelle RissoloHuge thanks to Michael and the Roof-A-Roo crew. They replaced my entire roof in one day. They arrived at 7:30 AM and didn’t leave until almost 8 PM. They did a wonderful job and the roof looks great. They even did an amazing clean-up job when they were done. Their price was competitive and fair and since my roof was damaged during a storm, Michael helped me through the entire insurance claim process. I highly recommend Roof-A-Roo to anyone looking for new roof.
