I normally don’t leave negative reviews, especially for small businesses because I respect people who work hard to build their business, but I feel it’s important to share my experience so others don’t go through what I did.At our very first sit-down meeting, which I recorded, Adam promised me porcelain tile flooring under the assumption that my countertop could be saved. I asked what would happen if the countertop couldn’t be saved, and his exact response was, “Don’t worry, I’m going to make it happen for you.” When my husband then pointed out that our current countertop was expensive and high quality, and that we didn’t want to end up with something lower grade, Adam reassured us, “Absolutely not, we’ll make sure it’s the same quality.” Just two days later, I even sent him the backsplash I had chosen, which he also acknowledged. All of these things were later labeled as “extras,” along with the subflooring, which is simply not true if you listen to that original conversation. Hearing those promises gave me peace of mind and made me feel like I was in good hands. Looking back now, that trust is exactly what makes the outcome so disappointing.The countertop was saved, which should have freed up thousands of dollars for the porcelain tile we were promised. Instead, Adam later said he was concerned that due to the structure of the floor, porcelain tile might crack, so we ended up with vinyl plank flooring that cost roughly $1,000. Despite repeated requests, I was never given an itemized breakdown of where the remaining money went. Where did all of this money go? We were able to salvage my current countertop (no money spent there aside from removing and reinstalling it), we saved my existing sink, we saved thousands by going with vinyl plank instead of porcelain tile, and after reviewing receipts I realized even the backsplash this time around was cheaper than the original. On top of that, Adam told us we would need to go with the cheapest cabinets because we had originally discussed porcelain tile. So in the end, I wound up with the cheapest cabinets, my original countertop, a cheaper backsplash, and vinyl flooring, and yet Adam told me not only was there no money left, but that we were actually over budget by several thousand dollars. It’s a joke, and it’s insulting. Adding to all of this frustration is the fact that we never signed a contract with Adam, which left me with no clear documentation of what was promised and no accountability when those promises weren’t honored. What I eventually came to realize is that Adam works off the total amount approved by insurance. That means whatever amount insurance grants is his budget, and however cheaply he can complete the work, the difference becomes profit for him.What disappoints me the most is the quality of the work itself. The paint job, in particular, is something I cannot believe was done by professionals. What Adam told me would take two full days was rushed and finished in a single day, and the results show it, sloppy lines, uneven coverage, and work that I now have to redo myself. The entire kitchen project, which Adam said would take about a month, was completed in just 11 days. When you’re told a job will take a month and it’s rushed through in less than two weeks, it doesn’t feel like efficiency. It feels like disregard for quality. Standing in my kitchen now, I don’t see the pride of skilled workmanship. I see shortcuts, sloppy paint, and broken promises.I walked away from this project not only disappointed, but genuinely hurt. I trusted Adam because he presented himself as such a kind and personable contractor, and for that reason, this experience feels like a betrayal. While the kitchen looks better than before, that is only because of how bad its condition was to start. I wish this review could have been different. I went into this project hopeful and trusting, but I came out feeling taken advantage of and let down. That’s why I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this contractor to anyone else.
